Carbon methodology · methane reduction
The rules behind a verified methane reduction.
The BOLD Carbon (CH₄) methodology translates AMS-III.F into testable rules for biowaste composting: what qualifies, what evidence is required and how CO₂e reductions are calculated.

How verification is structured
One claim, four accountable layers.
A methodology is not a single check — it is a chain of responsibility from the scientific basis to independent assurance.

Scientific basis
Methodology
Defines the environmental claim and the science behind it.
What the result means

Verification specification
MvF
Translates the basis into scope, evidence, rules, formulas and escalation criteria.

The claim
Organic waste — biowaste — composted instead of landfilled can produce verified CO₂e emission reductions when the evidence and calculation rules pass.
- Material and custody
- MassID structure, eligible biowaste, source and chain of custody.
- Participants
- Required actors, facility accreditation and valid documentation.
- Operational evidence
- Weighing, sorting, transport, drop-off and composting events.
- Geographic boundary
- Locations and project boundaries are checked against the framework.
- Emission calculation
- Landfill baseline and composting emissions are calculated under the published parameters.
- Integrity controls
- Uniqueness and collision rules prevent the same evidence from supporting conflicting issuance.
Verified output
Evidence becomes a public result.
The result is not asserted — it is the output of evidence that already passed every rule.
Inspect every layer
Public by design. Technical by choice.
Every layer of this framework is open to inspection — from the published specification to the source code that executes it.
